MUSA Landscape Architecture was approached by the client to create a landscape design for a new property in Randwick, Sydney. From an initial concept design this project expanded to a full set of detailed drawings including planting plan to support the development application to council.
The brief by the client was simply 'no straight lines' but with a formal touch and the design was to include scented plants, a lawn for the young children and a waterfeature.
The Landscape design was approached as a whole with design touches replicated throughout the design to ensure design consistency between the front and rear garden spaces. The circular lawn space in the front garden is surrounded by plantings and only accessibly via the bluestone step stones adding a playful element to the space. The bluestone steppers lead you to the side garden where bamboo arches over the side deck creating a relaxing space surrounded by soft lush greenery that will mitigate the noise from the nearby busy road. Step stones lead to the rear garden area and to a large deck connecting to the family areas of the home. A large irregular lawn with curved edges responds to the shape of the site leading to an off centered circular patio reflecting the circular lawn in the front garden. Plantings of lush tiered greenery combined with a flowing water feature provide movement and a relaxing ambiance within the space.
